They're home!

Yay! I finally have parents again! :)

Here's the group waiting at the airport.

My nephew, Ethan, showing off his shoes with wheels.

My nephew, Ryan, playing on the ground.

And here they come! Chase was the first to greet them.

Followed by Ryan & Ethan. (the grand kids are the most important anyway, right?)

It was a great day! Welcome home, Mom & Dad!

Chalk Art

Last weekend we went to the Chalk Art Festival at the Gateway in SLC. I have been wanting to go to it for the past few years and always seem to miss it. So this year I looked up when it was early and put it on the calendar so I wouldn't forget! It was actually really awesome! We went with my 2 sisters and my sister's boyfriend. We had dinner at Z'Tejas, a place we had never been before. It was pretty good, but my burrito was way spicy!!!

Noelle, Danny & Jannifer at dinner.
Husband & me at dinner.
And here are a few of my favorite pieces of art. We went Friday night, so the artists had just started. Next year I think I would prefer to go on Saturday when their pieces are about finished.

There were a lot of pieces with Peter Pan in them. Most of them were Disney, but I liked this non-Disney one best.
Beach scene.
Alice in Wonderland.
A little Dr. Seuss.
The giant octopus.
Mr. Einstein.
Having a blast at the festival.
I love him! :)
Pretty cool artwork, right? I loved it. If you didn't go this year, you should for sure next year.

artists

I have been meaning to post this for at least a week now... Anyway, a few weeks ago Dan and I decided to go to Color Me Mine for our date night! I have always wanted to go there and the opportunity finally arose. It happened to be a rainy Saturday night and it was the only indoor activity that sounded fun to us, plus Saturday nights are 2 for 1 night.

Here we are in the process (it was actually quite relaxing, I think).

(So far it looks like i've done nothing, but i actually painted 2 coats of white at this point)

And our final projects...

Dan's

Mine

We had a lot of fun! Although if you do go, I highly suggest going when it's 2 for 1 (it wasn't even busy) and know the projects are not very cheap. I'm guessing we'll never do it again, but it was fun to try once.

Art City Days

I have been waiting for my sister, Jannifer, to post these photos on her blog so I could steal them! Sorry if you read her blog too, this might all seem very familiar to you. Last week we went to the Art City Days and had a very fun time. We first went to Art City Trolley for dinner, but we didn't take any pics there. I love that place though, it's so yummy! If you are ever in Springville, you should go there. And here are some photos of the rest of our adventure:

The carnival. We didn't ride any rides though because the lines were way too long!

Joel, Becky & Mason came with us. We mostly walked through the craft fair with them because the rides scared poor Mason a little bit. They were pretty noisy!

Then we ate blue snow cones.

And then we played this dart game. I got 3 out of 3.
And Jannifer got 1 out of 3. So what were our prizes???
The EXACT SAME THING! I was kind of mad about it because I thought I should have gotten a bigger prize for popping all the balloons. I asked the man what I had to do to get a bigger prize and he said "pay more money." Dumb game! Oh well. Jannifer named hers Randolf and I named mine Randall. They are twins.

And then I played this game where you try to win a goldfish. I didn't actually want a goldfish, but it was the cheapest game there. And in the end I did not win.

After the carnival we decided to go to the Art Museum (which is why Springville is called the "Art City"). We got to the museum 5 minutes after closing, so we walked around the grounds instead and looked at the sculptures. We then decided to be part of the sculptures. See if you can spot us.... :)

This one is entitled "bike rack."

Eagle statue.

Admiring the new baby.

Helping the farmer with his chores. That bag was very heavy!

I must admit, Jannifer and I get a little crazy when we are together. I have a feeling if Noelle were there it might have gotten even crazier. Good thing all 3 of us are hanging out tomorrow! Our men will be there to keep us in line though.

As for the rest of Art City Days, Dan and I attended the parade Saturday morning, but I forgot my camera! I always forget my camera. It was fun though and luckily it did not rain. We didn't do much else with the festivities though due to illness and business trips. Thanks again Jannifer for coming to hang out with me!

Screamin Coupons

So a while ago I posted about a site called City Deals. Well... I have come across another great site that offers deals too. I always love a good deal :). And I like my friends to get good deals too. This site is called Screamin Coupons and every day they will email you some type of deal. You don't have to buy it, but you can. The cool thing with this company is if you buy a deal, they give a portion back to the school of your choice. Since I graduated in education, I'm always up for supporting local schools and I get a great deal too. So it's a win-win situation. Today I just got a deal for $10 at a local restaurant for only $5. Pretty sweet! Most of the deals have to do with entertainment, restaurants, stuff like that. I know they do deals in Utah and some in California. Not sure about anywhere else.

If you're interested, go here: Screamin Coupons

Enjoy!

A little ridiculous

I really don't know what's going on, but I am officially calling this week "make sure Michele gets sick with everything week!" At least, I hope it's just a week... If you read my last post you know I was sick at the beginning of the week. Well Wednesday I started to feel great and then Thursday I started getting a sore throat... and I woke up this morning with it still here. I'm not sure what's to follow. It's getting a little ridiculous though, don't you think? I hope I feel ok tomorrow because it's the parade! I love parades :).

Ok I'll stop complaining, good things have happened this week. Dan made it home safely. And Wednesday, the night I did feel well, I went to the carnival with some of my siblings and then my sister and I went to the art museum- I'll post pics once I get them from her. And also, Dan and I found this really yummy cafe last night in Spanish Fork. And I got drenched in the downpour yesterday, which I actually thought was hilarious. It was raining/hailing so hard! Hmmm... maybe that's how I got this sore throat...?

this week...

This week has not been the best week of my life. Why? Because Dan has been in Seattle on a business trip and I have been here. I had all these plans of shopping, errands, making crafts, cleaning, etc. in order to keep myself busy while he was away. But guess what? I did none of these things. Why? Because I had a very unwanted visitor... named... the Stomach Flu. So instead, what did I do? Let's see... I spent way too much time in the bathroom (I'll spare you the gruesome details), I laid on the couch, I laid on my bed, I slept, I drank a lot of gatorade, I ate soup, I ate crackers, I slept some more, I watched tv, I watched movies, I did not wear makeup, I did not do my hair, I missed Dan, and one day I got enough energy to walk out to get the mail and to see the light of day. That has been my past two days. But I do have to say I have a great family, because Monday my sisters came and took care of me and watched a movie with me and Tuesday my brother and his wife fed me (once my stomach could handle it) and my sister-in-law watched Gilmore Girls with me. Those were the best times of the last two days... that and the times I got to talk to Dan. But... I'm sure glad today is here because I woke up feeling good and Dan comes home! And I'm going to a carnival (more to come on that later). I might even go shopping, run errands, clean my house and do crafts. So goodbye stomach flu, you can leave now!

p.s. Side note, I'm pretty sure any time Dan goes out of town, something bad happens to me! Luckily he doesn't leave town often. But last year I got into a car accident and this year I was sick! I guess he can never leave again, unless I'm with him :)

Hello June!

It's June! I love June! June means summer! To kick off June, I thought I'd start w/ a long blog post. The blog post is about May. Goodbye May, thanks for the long weekend.

It was a fun, long weekend :). On Friday we went mini golfing @ Trafalga. I can't tell you how many times we have gone to Trafalga to play mini golf and ended up just playing arcade games instead because the line for mini golf is too long. But this time we did it, we stood in the long line! Plus I've never done their indoor course, only their outdoor course. So here we are (you can't really tell we're at the mini golf place- but we are!)

On Saturday we went to lunch with my sister, Noelle. We went to Magleby's Fresh, which we love! It is one of my favorite lunch spots in Provo. Then I took Noelle shopping for some wedding stuff.

I also made a strawberry pie this weekend! It was so yummy. I have been wanting to make one for a long time, so I finally did. It was super easy too! I even took a pic b/c I was proud of myself for being so domestic :).

On Memorial Day we had a family BBQ. It was so much fun! I wish I had taken pictures (I'm hoping to get some from my sister). We had a lot of fun eating, chatting, and playing w/ our nephews. We also made sure to put up our American Flag (we got one for our wedding, but never put it up before).

And one last thing I did, I got us tickets to Stadium of Fire!

I'm really excited about it. For those that don't know, it's a huge fireworks show/concert on the 4th of July in Provo. This year the main performer is Carrie Underwood. We both think she is pretty good (not huge fans or anything) definitely one of the better American Idol winners. But hey, the last time I went the performer was Taylor Hicks (who? haha... one of the not so great American Idol winners...) and I still had a fun time! The fireworks they do are awesome. I'm excited b/c I tried to get us tickets a while ago, but all of the cheap ones were sold out (I really didn't want to pay a ton). But then luckily I got an email from them saying they released even more tickets last week and they were even cheaper! Yay! So I got them! If you wanna go, maybe they still have some left. Now I'm getting excited for 4th of July (it's Dan's favorite holiday). Plus we get to spend it w/ my parents too! Hooray! Maybe I can convince them to go to the big Provo parade w/ us :).
