Family Reunion

Last week we had a family reunion with Dan's family. It was lots of fun! We all stayed at a huge house in Midway. It was a beautiful setting and Dan and I had bunk beds! haha. Here are some of the things we did...

Went to Hogle Zoo on the most perfect day ever. It was not busy at all and the weather was fabulous! We had a great time.

The tigers were my favorite. They were very active! They kept hitting the glass right by us as they rough housed with each other.

Our whole group at the Bird Show- which is always a good time. Only about half of the family attended the zoo.

Went to Cascade Springs. The drive up there made me a little sick, but once we got there it was a pretty cool spot.

Ate milkshakes at Granny's. My dad used to take me there when I was little after we'd go fishing. I told Dan we had to try it out. The shakes were as good as I remember them. If you are ever in Heber, get a shake here.

Saw fireworks on the 24th of July with Ethan & Tiana. We went to this little town park and the fireworks were actually pretty impressive! Some little kid there even came up with a glow stick and started attacking Dan. He said he was part of Star Wars- random!

The rest of the time I forgot to take pictures, but we did lots of other fun things, including: got pedicures with the girls (just me, not Dan... haha), shopped at the Park City Outlets, saw Eclipse, slept in, played games, took naps, stayed up late chatting, went hot tubbing, went to Park City Main Street, went to the Pioneer Days at This is the Place Heritage Park, ate at Red Robin twice, watched SYTYCD, and just hung out with family. It was a great, relaxing week and a much needed vacation.

Dan and I liked Park City Main Street so much we are considering going back up there for our anniversary in a few weeks.

And one last side note... my shorts came in the mail yesterday and i love them! They fit perfectly.

Denim Bermuda Shorts

We just got back from a week long family reunion in Park City. We had a great time and I will blog more about it all later. I tried to take pics, but mostly forgot. One thing I was really looking forward to doing was going to the Outlet Mall in PC. I love the outlets! Everyone asked me what I was looking for at the outlets and I told them denim bermuda shorts. I have been looking for them for a long time (pretty much all summer)!

So... we went to the outlets and I checked almost every store. I didn't find any, except at American Eagle. They were a little pricey, so I thought I'd keep on looking and possibly come back. Anyhow, later in the week we also went to Park City Main Street. I looked for shorts there and didn't find any (however, I did find some awesome shoes). At this point I was getting a little frustrated, I thought I might as well just buy jeans and cut them short!

Anyway, we never had time to go back to the outlets. So... this morning I checked ae.com and found the shorts I wanted. The exciting part is they were on sale and they were offering free shipping! Hooray! So I got them. Now I just have to wait for them to get here.

Just thought I'd post this in case anyone else out there was having the same dilemma as me. I know my sister-in-law, Jessica, was also looking for some. Anyway, hopefully they fit and are long enough :).

5th of July

The second part of our Fourth of July celebration took place Monday morning at the Provo parade. Luckily my sister's fiance, Jared, lives right on the parade route. So instead of camping out like most of Provo to stake out our spots, we arrived 1 hour early and could see perfectly. We did, however, pay for parking. It was ridiculous trying to find a spot on the road, so we ended up parking in a lot and paying a small fee to the boy scouts. It was definitely closer than any other spot we'd be able to find though. We made our way over to Jared's and luckily he has a trampoline in his yard, so we were able to sit on the trampoline above the crowd in front of us and we had a great view the whole time. I had talked to my brother earlier and he and his family were coming to the parade too. They weren't sure where to sit so I told them to come over to Jared's. I knew his yard was big enough for everyone :).

Here we are. In our matching shirts, again. But don't worry, I promise I washed them before we wore them a 2nd time.

The cute family: Tim, Katie, Chase & Riley. Chase did awesome at the parade, he loved seeing the firetrucks at the beginning (i think there was one from every city in utah county... almost). By the 2nd half he was done watching the parade and was more interested in jumping on the trampoline. But hey, even I thought the parade got a little long.

Chase had a little American Flag which he used as a wand to cast spells on me like Harry Potter.

And here is Jared & Noelle. Thanks again Jared for letting us sit at your house! I told him he could never move so we would always have good parade seats. I don't know if Noelle would want to live in that house forever though.

And here's the BYU float. I had to get a pic, I am alumni after all.

And here are the Provo missionaries. They got the largest round of applause out of anyone in the parade.

The rest of the parade entries were mostly beauty queens, marching bands or some type of military vehicle. It was fun though... just a little repetitive.

That evening we had a family BBQ. Because you have to have a BBQ on the 4th (or 5th in this case)... It might almost be considered un-American if you don't :). Anyway, I forgot to take pictures, but it was delicious! I always love a good BBQ.

Stadium of Fire

We had quite the 4th of July weekend, so it will have to be two posts. After all, since 4th of July was on a Sunday this year Utah had celebrations on both Saturday and Monday. It was great!
We started the weekend off by finally seeing Toy Story 3 Friday night. We both really liked it! Even if we did see it at a cheap-o theater.

On Saturday afternoon we went to the Freedom Festival in Provo. I didn't take any pictures because it really wasn't all that exciting. Mostly just booths set up selling things we didn't want. We did spend $1 on lemonade from Tucanos and that was it.

Saturday night we went to Stadium of Fire and we loved it! It was even better than I remembered from the last time I went. We got there and sat down and this lady asked us if we would switch her tickets so she could sit by her family. We said "yes" and got to move up much closer! It was a great trade :). The seats were not very spacious though, we were kind of squished in the middle of a row, but that's how every seat in the stadium is. Poor Dan... if I was uncomfortable, then I know he was definitely uncomfortable. I did take lots of pictures at this event. It was very picture worthy.

Here we are! And yes, we are matching :). Dan designed these shirts and won a design contest, so they gave us 2 free shirts.

Here are the red, white & blue dancers. They eventually formed an American Flag.

And then they had the largest Eagle Court of Honor ever. On the stage are all of the scouts receiving their eagles. They also had the oldest eagle scout alive say a few words... he's 90 something.

And this is Dan standing because they had all of the eagle scouts in the audience stand and be a part of the eagle's nest. Go Dan!

After a few other performances, Carrie Underwood sang. Here she is on the big screen.

And here she is on the stage. See the little white speck? haha... She did a great job! I only knew about half of her songs, but I really liked her performance. I think Dan may have even liked it too.

Then they literally had fire in the stadium as they played the Stadium of Fire theme song! It was an intro to the best fireworks show I have ever seen! And now a few firework pictures... which really do not do justice to how awesome they were.

We had a great time at this fantastic celebration! I kind of want to go every year now... as long as the main performer is a good one. Thanks Dan for going with me! :)

They're home!

Yay! I finally have parents again! :)
