fish & veggies

So we kind of had an eventful weekend. On Friday Dan and I went to the Home & Garden Expo. We were hoping to get some ideas for our future home. It wasn't quite as exciting as I had hoped. However, we did get a free goldfish! A swimming pool company was handing them out, so i got one. Which was slightly shocking b/c Dan has told me we would NEVER have pets. Not that he doesn't like animals, he just doesn't like having to take care of them. It's amazing the things I can talk that guy into ;). So we got the fish, then after the show we went and bought some food for it. We even named it Sharkie on the way home. The next morning we found Sharkie dead! Can you believe it? Only lasted 1 day. R.I.P. Sharkie. I went to Walmart to buy another fish b/c I figured we already had a can full of food for it but when I got there I decided I didn't even want one. I am crazy, I know. So if anyone out there needs some goldfish food, I have some you can have for free!

Also during this weekend Dan's brother Ethan came down to visit. His wife & baby are out of town so Dan wanted to invite him down to play some golf. On Saturday the boys went golfing and to some movie I would have never wanted to see (thank you Ethan for going with Dan so I didn't have to). While they were out I did some shopping and the most exciting part of the weekend (for me at least).... I planted vegetables! I am SO excited!!! I really, really hope they grow and I don't kill them. I have never had a green thumb, but I'm hoping this time is different. Here they are... my tomato & cucumber plants:

And can I just say the old men at Walmart were super helpful? Because they were. They were so nice and told me all I needed to know about planting my plants. My brother, Joel, was also helpful. I called him and he told me everything I needed to buy. Thanks, Joel!

We also took Ethan to our favorite St. George Mexican restaurant and some ice cream place that has been in St. George for like 50 years. We watched Megamind (if you haven't seen it, you should!), and we watched some March Madness. Ok I'm not really into it, but my bracket is beating Dan's :). Hey, he's the one who made me fill it out in the first place.

green

So i just realized I am not even wearing green today!  That is not like me.  I always love holidays and celebrating them.  I guess I should go change my clothes.  Not sure what I was thinking today while i was getting ready.  I did however plan a festive dinner!  I wanted to make a festive breakfast too but I was so tired this morning.  By the time i got up, Dan was already eating breakfast!  I could have made myself a green breakfast, but it's really not as much fun if you don't have someone to share it with.  Anyway... for dinner i already made some green jello and we are going to have asparagus too.  Kind of festive :).  I also got Dan a St. Patrick's Day present, which he doesn't even know about.  It was something I saw at Target yesterday I wanted to get for him.  But instead of just getting it to get it, I decided i would wrap it up and make it a St. Patrick's Day present.  It has nothing to do with St. Patty's, it's actually a movie (don't tell him!) haha.

I hope everyone else out there remembered to be a little more festive than I did!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!

wedding weekend

This past weekend we went up to northern utah for my friend's wedding. I have known my friend Amanda since 1st grade! We go way back. It was so much fun seeing all of my friends from growing up. I love when we all get together. Amanda is the last to get married and luckily all of our husbands get along too! It is fabulous. Now that we are all married we are already planning a couples trip for this summer.

Here we all are with Amanda and Joe. Amanda looked gorgeous and i loved her dress. The only person missing is Mallory's husband Matt (she is the one sitting next to the groom). Poor Mal!

Here are the girls (minus the bride). I love these girls! We took lots of pictures to keep ourselves entertained while waiting for Amanda & Joe to come out of the temple. It was about 50 degrees that day and all of my friends thought it was warm! I was freezing! haha... i'm amazed at how quickly my body has adjusted to st. george weather. 50 is cold!

After the wedding Dan and I went and had lunch with my dad and my sister at the Church Office Building. It was so much fun because when I worked in SLC i would eat lunch with my dad almost every day. It was fun to be able to do it again. Now my sister and her husband work in SLC so they are the ones who get to eat lunch with my dad.

After lunch we took my grandpa balloons for his birthday. I think he liked them :). We also went to the gateway to see the movie Rango (not all that great... and definitely not great for kids). While at the gateway we ended up buying Dan lots of clothes! Which was fun b/c usually the stuff we buy is for me. It was nice to turn the tables :). We also went to the reception that night and had more fun chatting w/ friends, dancing and eating.

On Saturday we hung out w/ my family. While my brother and his wife were out house hunting Dan and I took care of their little boy, Chase. He was our little buddy all day and we had lots of fun with him! Let's just say I love 3 year olds! They are always so cute and funny. We took him to see his cousins and we all went to the park.

Here are my cute 3 year old nephews. They always make me laugh! I love them!

On Sunday we went to our old ward in Springville & saw a lot of our old friends. Then we made our way back to St. George. It was a fun weekend! We were happy we got to see so many of our friends and family. Also this past weekend my best college friend, Melissa, got engaged. That means another wedding some time in May or June for us to attend. Lots of weddings this year!

sold!

This past weekend Dan's brother Andrew and his wife Jessica and their kids (Marissa, Addison, and Logan) came to stay with us for a few days.  We had lots of fun!  I know I say this all the time, but we really do love visitors :).  And luckily this past weekend the weather was beautiful.  They live in Logan, so I think they really enjoyed the sunny, warm weather.  I really wish I would have taken more pictures, but I always forget!  I did get one photo though...

We took them to see our future house lot and there was a sold sign on it.  Yeah, sold to us!  We were excited and I really wanted a pic.  So here we all are.  They even flattened out our lot.  They are just waiting for us to tell them to start building :).  We pretty much have everything picked out for our new house, but lately we have been changing our minds a lot!  We'll get it all figured out soon though.

Anyway, a few other fun things we did with our guests.... we watched Dan and his brother Andrew play church ball, the girls went shopping at the outlets (we found the cutest kids clothes!), we played at the park in our future neighborhood, we toured the model homes in our future neighborhood, we went to in-n-out burger (they don't have one in Logan), we took the kids to Pirate Island Pizza (and we won deal or no deal at the arcade!  my favorite game), the girls loved swimming in our hot tub, we also taught them how to play wii sports and just dance 2, and the kids loved playing in the red sand at our playground.

And what's on the schedule for this weekend?  Best friend's wedding in SLC!  We are busy but life is good :)
