Hello June!

It's June! I love June! June means summer! To kick off June, I thought I'd start w/ a long blog post. The blog post is about May. Goodbye May, thanks for the long weekend.

It was a fun, long weekend :). On Friday we went mini golfing @ Trafalga. I can't tell you how many times we have gone to Trafalga to play mini golf and ended up just playing arcade games instead because the line for mini golf is too long. But this time we did it, we stood in the long line! Plus I've never done their indoor course, only their outdoor course. So here we are (you can't really tell we're at the mini golf place- but we are!)

On Saturday we went to lunch with my sister, Noelle. We went to Magleby's Fresh, which we love! It is one of my favorite lunch spots in Provo. Then I took Noelle shopping for some wedding stuff.

I also made a strawberry pie this weekend! It was so yummy. I have been wanting to make one for a long time, so I finally did. It was super easy too! I even took a pic b/c I was proud of myself for being so domestic :).

On Memorial Day we had a family BBQ. It was so much fun! I wish I had taken pictures (I'm hoping to get some from my sister). We had a lot of fun eating, chatting, and playing w/ our nephews. We also made sure to put up our American Flag (we got one for our wedding, but never put it up before).

And one last thing I did, I got us tickets to Stadium of Fire!

I'm really excited about it. For those that don't know, it's a huge fireworks show/concert on the 4th of July in Provo. This year the main performer is Carrie Underwood. We both think she is pretty good (not huge fans or anything) definitely one of the better American Idol winners. But hey, the last time I went the performer was Taylor Hicks (who? haha... one of the not so great American Idol winners...) and I still had a fun time! The fireworks they do are awesome. I'm excited b/c I tried to get us tickets a while ago, but all of the cheap ones were sold out (I really didn't want to pay a ton). But then luckily I got an email from them saying they released even more tickets last week and they were even cheaper! Yay! So I got them! If you wanna go, maybe they still have some left. Now I'm getting excited for 4th of July (it's Dan's favorite holiday). Plus we get to spend it w/ my parents too! Hooray! Maybe I can convince them to go to the big Provo parade w/ us :).

She's home!

One of my best friends ever, Melissa, came home from her mission today! It was so fun seeing her. She is from CA, but luckily she had a layover in SLC. So me, our other old roommate, Lacey and Melissa's sister, Camille all went to see her. She's adorable and I'm so excited she's home. We all wondered if she would be weird haha, but she was definitely the same Melissa. I learned today that apparently everyone in Montana has animal heads on their walls! It was also very weird for her to be called "Melissa" instead of "Sister Engstrom."

And only 1 more month until my other missionaries get home, my parents :)

As of late...

I figure I might as well give a little update as to what we've been doing. Aside from buying a new car and going to Disneyland (which were probably the most exciting events as of late), we've still been busy.

This past weekend we saw the movie "How To Train Your Dragon," a movie both of us actually wanted to see (that is hard to come by). We both really enjoyed it. I thought the graphics were great and the main dragon was cute. The story was a little predictable, but still fun. It also got me excited for Toy Story 3 this summer, which we saw a preview for.

On Saturday we had a ward BBQ which Dan was partially in charge of. It turned out great! We thought it would rain but we both prayed it would be sunny and amazingly the weather cleared up just in time for the BBQ. And when I say BBQ I actually mean they just ordered J Dawgs (a popular provo hot dog spot) for everyone. They had a lot of extras though, so we've been having J Dawgs for lunch since.

Saturday afternoon we went up to Midway to check out the house we will be staying at for our reunion this summer. Dan's brother, Ethan & his wife, Tiana, came with us. Midway is such a cute little Swiss town! The house was also really nice. We are excited for it! We then ate at a cute cafe there. I got pizza and it was sooo good! I am definitely planning on eating there again this summer.

I just got called to the nursery in our ward and I really like it! I know, some people probably think I'm crazy, but I truly enjoy it. It's nice to actually use my major (early childhood education). I taught the lesson yesterday about being happy and the kids seemed to really like it. Other than one kid kicking another kid in the face, I think it was a pretty good day.

I am so excited for this week because one of my best friends, Melissa, comes home from her mission on Thursdsay! Lucky for me, she has a layover in Utah, so I get to see her. She and I were roommates for 3 years and I can't wait to see her! She went to Montana and will be heading home to Cali for the summer.

Another good thing for this week, So You Think You Can Dance starts! Hooray! And the best news, American Idol finally ends! I have really not enjoyed this season. And yes, Dan and I watch too much tv, but we have tivo. It's just too easy for us to record everything and then watch it when we get a chance (plus we skip all the commericals). We were also happy about the outcome of Celebrity Apprentice- we were routing for Bret Michaels! And amazingly after having a brain hemorrhage and a stroke, he still appeared on the live finale.

Other than that I have just been cleaning all day! Both of my bathrooms are spotless. I just needed a little blogging break. Now I'm headed for the kitchen!

Help, please!

Dear family, friends, blog readers...

I need your help! Ok really, my cousin needs your help. She is in a blogging contest for Mormon Times. It started with 80 entries and she has made it to the final two of the competition. If she wins she will write a weekly column for the Mormon Times about dating. She is awesome and hilarious! Please, please, please go vote for her HERE. Her name is Julia Shumway. Thanks!

New car. Love it!

Dan and I have been thinking about getting a new car for a while. We wanted something a little bigger, something we could grow into, and something that would do well in the snow (since we've decided to stay in Utah a little longer... maybe forever, not really sure at this point). Anyway, I've been borrowing my parents car while they are gone and Dan has had his car for a really long time, so we decided now was a good time to start looking w/ my parents coming back in just over a month.

Dan was really interested in Hondas. So we went to the Honda dealership Friday night just to see what the interiors were like and to test drive them a little. We liked them... kind of... but they were also super pricey! We then came across a Mitsubishi Outlander and I really liked how it looked. We took it for a drive and Dan even liked it- mostly b/c he could actually fit in it comfortably. We decided to go home and think about it. We also did a little research on Outlanders and found great reviews. It was definitely at the top of my list. Dan liked Honda's CR-V too, but I wasn't really a fan.

Then Saturday morning we decided to go to a nearby Mitsubishi dealership to see what they had, so we would have something to compare to the one we saw the night before. We looked at 2 Outlanders and really, really, really liked one of them! After a little negotiating and talking it over, we felt great about it and decided to get it! We feel we got a great deal and it was everything we were looking for, plus more!

I was going to take pics of it, but never did. This is what it looks like though....

There is just something so fun about driving a new car! We love it and are very happy with our purchase.

Oh and I forgot to mention, this is my 100th post! Hooray! What a great way to celebrate :)
