New headboard

So Dan and I don't have a headboard. I've always wanted one, but every time I find one I like, it's pricey! And really... what is the purpose of a headboard? Trying to help Dan see the practicality of it is quite the task. Um... it makes your bed look nicer? Well that's why I want one. It just looks nice, right? And as a side note, I googled the purpose of a headboard- one site said it keeps your pillows in place (?) I've never had the problem of my pillow moving. But anyway, regardless to whether it has a purpose or not, I still want one.

I finally found a cheap solution to my headboard dilemma. Thank you, DIY!

I am going to make my own! DIY tells you how (they also have lots of other headboard ideas, if this isn't your style). This nice, clean & simple headboard is made of plywood. Which in my few times of going to Home Depot, I'm pretty sure plywood isn't all that expensive. So I emailed the idea to Dan and he said YES! I'll post pictures once it's complete! Yay for a new Saturday project :)

Blanket party

I've really been wanting to do that Disney give a day, get a day program, so I finally signed us up! Our service was to make fleece blankets for an organization that gives them to children in need. Each person was supposed to make 3 blankets. I signed up Dan and myself and then my sister Noelle and her boyfriend Jared wanted to do it too. If you haven't heard of the program, basically you give a day of service and then you get a free day at Disneyland.

On Saturday night we all got together for a blanket making party. I had already made 3, so we were just working on Dan's 3. Noelle and Jared had 6 to make. Amazingly, we made them in the EXACT same amount of time! But my partner got a little distracted by the Olympics... ok... a lot distracted. But hey, we got them all done!

We are really excited to go to Disneyland, but it was also a lot of fun doing service together. I think it's a great program Disney has set up. If you are interested in doing it, you can look at their website here. I believe they are only doing the first million people though, so you should sign up soon!

picture time!

Last Saturday we went to my friend Alyse's wedding reception. At her reception she had the coolest thing ever... a photo booth! I've never seen one at a reception before, but apparently it is the new big thing for weddings. Basically when you walk in, you step into the photo booth and get 4 pictures taken of you. The pictures are then printed out in a strip like any other photo booth. The great part is, 2 strips are printed- one to go into a book for the bride and groom and one for the guests to keep! We loved it. Once it printed, they put it in the book and then let you sign by it. Another great thing is they put the photos online after the event. Here are a few of my favorites....As you can see we had a fabulous time- and the photos were unlimited, so we made sure to take lots. I love these girls! They are some of my best friends and we've known each other our whole lives! It's fun now that we are all getting married and luckily our husbands all get along too :)

You've gotta try it!

For those of you in the Provo/Orem area, Dan and I suggest you try this new place...

We went there Thursday night and we thought it was delicious! The hamburgers have a lot of flavor and their fries were our favorite part. If you go, definitely get the smashfries and eat them with their fry sauce. Dan said they were the best fries he has ever had. He liked them so much, he wanted to go there again for lunch the next day!

The one in Orem is across the street from the Univ. mall. I think there are a few others in UT too. And just blogging about it is making me hungry!
